Vashon residence, Chinoiserie adaptation, entry mural. Overview. 300 linear feet of my version of Chinoiserie painted on canvas. 16+ panels, most of them 18-25 feet, applied and matched like wallpaper. Vashon residence, entry section of total mural. Bas relief pergola inspired by an over the door wood ornament carved by Luke Lightfoot, 18th century, in the Claydon estate house, Britain. Jeanne Franze, set designer, fabricated it from styrofoam and installed it. She also fabricated the monkey, the tiger “paw” and the bas relief parrot, all of which I painted and she installed. Pasadena residence. The owners wanted imagery of India in this 6x30’ mural, and to include colorful animals from all over the world. They also wanted small humans dressed in costumes of India and engaged in poetic and workaday activities. Again, my concept was, the world of nature is huge, and the human world is very small. I started with the Ganges pouring down from the Himalayas on the lower left of the mural, and winding it’s way eventually to the Bay of Bengal on the lower right. Photography: Chris Landry

Mural of a Southern French landscape. 20x16’ wrap around, acrylic on canvas. Produced by request of client to replicate in color the missing black and white murals/tapestries(?) which were photographed in black and white in 1901. Dionysus by Moonlight. A section of a 10x10’ mural for a wine cellar mural, acrylic on canvas. The gold leaf stars in the night blue ceiling are twinkling down to sparkle in the god’s glass of exceptional wine!
Chinoiserie living room, 20x16’, acrylic on canvas. The MacDonalds bought the Morris house (the couple who commissioned the work), and loved the murals so much that they kept them and bought just the perfect furniture and accessories to go with it!
Trompe l’oeil bookcase mural, 8x4’, acrylic canvas. Again, I have adapted the traditional style and painted in some living animals (the cat, the grasshopper, and the behind of a little mouse). I put bibelots and photo of a grandchild along with feathers, a shell, and a candle that had just been snuffed out. My client asked me to put naughty titles on the books, but I demurred because it was an extra job. However, I did name the book under my hand, “Orgasmic Farming.”
Theatre curtains for a Chicago movie room, along with decorative borders. Each side is 8’x52”, acrylic on canvas. Costumed Renaissance musicians play in Italianate decorative borders.
Children’s Victorian Circus playroom, Saco, Maine, 30 x15’. A section of murals painted with acrylic directly on the walls.There are trapeze artists balancing on lines between clouds in the tiny “cloud room” cubby — and what else could I do with a radiator but put a pig on it!
Albers in the Rain, acrylic on venetian plaster on MDO, 6x4’. Seattle hosted the 2014 Decorative Artist’s Salon, and the theme was nature and contemporary style. So I put some of Alber’s beautiful color squares in my work, lots of Pacific Northwest birds, flowers, and animals, and of course, RAIN! This mural is now a collection of Joyce Allen’s and she even bought a sofa to look good with it!
